We drove to Suntaley Khola from Siliguri- it’s roughly 3 hours drive ,if my memory serves me right and it was a one day trip.In Nepalese language Khola means river and Suntley means orange so it means “Orange River”.If you like to spend some undisturbed time in the hills, then it’s probably a good idea to book the West Bengal Tourism Eco Forest Bungalows which are just a few metres from the river.
When we reached, the water level was quite low ,else during the monsoon the water stream can be quite menacing .It is recommended to spend some time here and enjoy the beauty of nature and the beautiful calm and serene surroundings .I just love those tea gardens all over.If you are adventurous enough then do take a dip in the river and enjoy the cold splash😁.
And then it was time for lunch ,so we had a very late lunch there .And don’t forget to eat momos and wiwi here (highlight).
We also visited the Rocky Island ,a new tourist destination in Dooars ,situated on the bank of the River Murti, and is about 2 km from from Samsing which is a popular camping site. The place is surrounded by hills and ideal for land base adventure activities like trekking, rock climbing & rappelling. The golden light during sunset is stunning.
We ended our trip with mocktails and starters at Sinclairs Resort and then we had dinner too,on our way back to siliguri.
Enjoy the pictures from the day ,all these pictures are taken by a dslr.
Hope you enjoyed the read.
